Backlinks over time

Historical data about backlinks would be very helpful in understanding traffic pattern changes - particularily for consultants that take new clients with traffic problems.  Even a graph show total backlinks by week/month would go a long way to understanding the changes affecting a site.

Better would be able to dive into the data so individual pages could be assessed... but I'm not greedy ;).

We did launch tracking of historical link metrics late in 2011. There is a ton of information here in a blog one of our Product Managers, Sam, published in December when the feature launched:

Unfortunately, we don't have API access at this point, but this a huge step in tracking your historical metrics! Also, one more thing to note is we start tracking these metrics as soon as you start your campaign, but that means metrics previous to your campaign begin set up will not be shown in this section.

Thanks,
Carin

I agree! Is there still no way of doing this?!

I agree this would be very useful - sudden changes to the link profile could be more easily identified and this can help pinpoint the source of problems that may have negative impact.
