Bring Back Comparative Link Finder Tool

cajohnson
suggested this on May 29, 2013, 9:33 AM

With the change to Moz the Lab Tools are now gone. I would like to see the Comparative Link Finder tool be brought back as a full-fledged tool.  It was quite helpful to me and I am already missing it.

Hello! Thanks for keeping an eye on this request :) We deployed a fix to the tool a few days ago, so feel free to go check it out. Thanks for you patience while we worked through that issue.

Have a great Friday,

Jackie

Any chance of an update? Can't understand why it is taking this long.

Hello!

Unfortunately, we don't have an update. We'll keep you posted, and let you know when we're getting close to a fix.

Thanks for you patience,

Hi!

I do have an update-- we're still a few weeks out from a fix, sorry for the delay. We recently made some updates to the Mozscape index (more on that soon), which the Competitive Link Finder Labs tool uses. In the process, the connection between the index and the tool was interrupted. The fix is slightly more complex than we originally thought, and our developers are still working on it.

In the meantime, one of our community members wrote a great blog post about how to do some of the competitive link analysis manually. While it's a bit more involved, it may help you in the interim while the tool is being fixed.

Best,

Jackie

Uh oh! I'm getting the same error. I sent this over to the Engineering team for them to take a look. It might be a few days before this issue is resolved-- sorry about that.

Just got the same error with 2 and 3 competitors entered.

I just tried to use the Competitive Link Finder and got an error message telling me to at least put in 2 competitors (I did) and there was error fetching my request.  Is there an issue with this tool or is this just a random busy message?

Here's the link to the Labs Tools: http://moz.com/labs

As of right now, we don't link to it in the application so it's a little difficult to find :) Sorry about that!

Best,

Jackie

Hi again, lwaadmin-- I just talked with our engineering team, and the estimate for rolling this out is early July. Again, thanks for your patience as we re-tool this for Moz!

Cheers,

Karen

+1 on this. Maybe not the most crucial tools in the set but certainly useful sometimes. The old tool pages would be fine until whatever updates you have are ready, but just yanking them is a bit mean ;)

Hi cajohnson! Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you still find the tool useful.

We actually haven't gotten rid of the product. Both Competitive Link Finder and Link Acquisition Assistant should be available later this week. Unfortunately, they will still be unsupported Labs tools, but we do plan on replacing them in the future.

I'll update this post when the tools are live on moz.com.

Cheers,

Samantha
